Happy New Year!

I am going to try and use my blog this year to keep me honest. Every year I make resolutions for the new year. Goals I hope to keep. They are well thought out, written down and then promptly put some place never to be seen again. I often write them in my journal but then through the year I hardly ever look at them again. I am hoping by making them more public I can actually accomplish my goals.

Really they are good and worthy goals, worth accomplishing.

Each year I make goals around the scripture Luke 2: 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. So I have four areas that I make goals in.

Wisdom- I am doing to read 25 books this year. Not all will help me gain wisdom but all will help me use my mind.

Stature- I’ve committed to exercising at least 4 days a week. I do have plans to do the Layton Triathlon again this summer. I have also committed to going on a low sugar diet. I haven’t gotten a handle on my weight and it’s time. My triglycerides are high and my blood sugar although not at diabetes levels is higher than it should be. I have committed to be low sugar for the next year. For me I will use Jorge Cruises guidelines on the Belly Fat cure. We will see if it helps.

In favor with God- I plan to read the book of Mormon this year as well as attend institute( which is not hard because it is truly the best part of my week). I am also working on Personal progress and plan to finish it this year.

In Favor with man- These are social goals and many who know me know I’m a pretty social gal. But my goal this year for this area of my life is to serve more, to look for opportunities to help others to open my heart to others.

So here is where you come in. Not that anyone reads my blog, but I am hoping that by putting this all out there I will be a bit more committed. I am going to start posting on my blog about my goals and how I am doing. Wednesday are now going to be Weight loss Wednesdays. I plan to report back each Wed. As I finish a book I will give a review of said book. Really just look for my posts to be about my goals and an occasional quilt. I have several that I would like to work on this year.
Thanks for joining me on a journey of accomplishment. Comments are always welcome.
Happy New Year!

You are so on the ball. I just try to survive weeks. I have been on a weight loss trend. THe past three weeks have not been the best, but it WAS Christmas and MY MOM was visiting. I'm still trying to finish the Old Testament. It is the last of the Standard Works that I committed to read about 6 years ago. So it has taken a long time, but I have done it!!

I sure miss you and love to keep in touch. I'm so glad that all is going well for your family. Much love to you and a blessed 2011!!

I love the scripture you chose! Several of us have chosen "...to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) I need to quit beating myself up so much and realize I do have God's favor (as we all do.) So reading more about God's favor in the scripture you chose was encouraging. I'm bookmarking your blog.

Love, love, love your goals for 2011!! They say the first step to anything is writing them down. Good for you. It will be fun to keep up with you this year via your blog!!! (p.s. My sister lives in Farmington. Next time I get home to visit, we've got to get together!!)
